While growing up in Aliquippa, Pa. I was first inspired by Cousin Bob (real name unknown by me) in the very early 50's. He was on the radio everyday at 4:30 pm with the 4:30 sesh (session).  He played doo wop and r&b which at that time we (kids) simply called it "the sounds".

Not long after that I tuned to a small station WHOD located in Homestead, Pa. a suburb of Pittsburgh and for the first time I heard "the daddio of the raddio" Porky Chedwick. I also listened to Mad Mike's Moldy Oldies in the 60's.  I remained a steady listener through the 50's - 60's and started my record collection of 78 rpm's.in the early 50's. I don't have the 78's today but I still have most of my 45's and I try to keep things in good condition so the records are still in decent shape today.

Of course I have built a new collection of re-issues on cd's so I have been able to build my collection in a format that I never would have dreamed possible several years ago.  I am constantly on the lookout for rare and hard to find tunes that I remember from those early days in the 50's.

I went to as many dances as I could back in the 50's and these dances could be found all over the Pittsburgh area. I still enjoy dancing with my wife when we get the chance to do so, but I can't do those splits and fancy steps anymore, so we just keep it conservative.....LOL

I went into the army in 1959 and I was stationed in Germany for two years and one year in Fort Riley, Kansas  and Fort Meade Md. While in the army, I continued to build my collection by ordering 45's from Randy's Record Shop in Tenn. Service men got a discount.....LOL   I now live in South Carolina and I have my own insurance agency, but every year I travel back to my hometown (Aliquippa,   Pa.) and while there I make my way to my favorite record shops in the Pittsburgh area to look for more hard to find goodies.

I am very happy to play these great tunes for all of you and I thank you for helping me to keep the music alive. These songs are the songs of our lives and nobody can take our memories of those  grand times away from us!

   Yours In harmony,
   Terry G.
